UNCREASE
This was the Gilcrease call to All Creatives! earlier this year.
Pssssttt – the new Gilcrease Museum building is almost finished! Before the Museum is fully operational with exhibitions at the end of 2026, we have a unique opportunity to welcome the community in for a sneak peek and creative experiences between May and November of 2025. We need your help! Local artists, performers and creative folks from the Tulsa area are invited to dream up ways to gather community and have fun. Gilcrease provides the building, the space and limited equipment— and you bring the space to life.
‘Uncrease’ will be held on the 4th Thursday evening from 7-9pm, and the 2nd Saturday, 1-4pm. See dates listed out below.
How does it work?
-
Local creatives submit a proposal to be part of ‘Uncrease,’ to be held at Gilcrease Museum on the 4th Thursday of each month from 7 to 9pm, and the 2nd Saturday of each month from 1-4pm.
-
Gilcrease will identify and select acceptable proposals and set a schedule based on the creative’s feedback and availability.
-
Creatives may propose as many projects as they desire (a separate proposal for each project is necessary), and may collaborate with other creatives on multiple proposals.
-
Gilcrease will provide basic equipment as available and requested. Please see the next page for a list of available equipment. All other equipment must be provided by the artist and pre-approved by the Museum.
-
The creative is responsible for planning the layout and set-up of the space they are using. 15 minutes will be allotted for set-up and tear-down (15 minutes for each).
-
Limited Gilcrease Museum staff will be available for assistance during set-up and tear-down.
-
All participants will be provided a stipend of $250 for an hour-long experience that will compensate for materials and time. All costs related to the building, such as custodial and security, will be provided by Gilcrease.
